And Shingle Recycling Continues.....

Gemaco Sales Ltd. was incorporated in 1958 by Garnet Marks. Garnet originally owned the Mercedes Benz dealership in Kelowna. His love for equipment and the agriculture industry soon took him in a new direction. Gemaco started selling feed bodies across Western Canada. As the need for recycling grew, Garnet sourced and began supplying equipment to support environmental solutions. Gemaco Sales still represents some of those original manufactures.

In 2007 a new family bought Gemaco Sales Ltd.  Learning about the equipment Gemaco represented inspired them to build on the foundation that Garnet had started.

February 2010 Gemaco opened the 1st solely dedicated Residential Asphalt Shingle Recycling Facility, in Delta, BC.  They bought their 1st RG1 Rotochopper Shingle Grinder, named her "Scarlet" and started the "Mobile" Contract Shingle Grinding division of Gemaco.

Sales and the company grew quickly.  The market in the Lower Mainland/Vancouver area however wasn't quite ready.

In order for the collection facility business to continue the various stakeholders in the infrastructure industry would need to accept and be willing to work with the Recycled Asphalt Shingles.

October 2013 - over their licence "acceptable amount of material onsite" Gemaco temporarily closes the Collection Facility and continues working at developing the acceptance of RAS in the Lower Mainland.

February 28, 2015 Gemacos 669 Derwent Way Collection Facility is dismantled and closed.

The RG1 - "Scarlet" continues to travel  grinding and recycling shingles for various clients and customers.

Gemaco continues with Equipment Sales and developing new processes for RAS to allow for greater acceptance; recovering valuable materials permitting greater ease and work-ability.
